[Let’s Study: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e] Part 4: Downtime

Given that it’s a game that defines it’s characters with Careers, it makes sense that between adventures, the player characters still get a means to pursue less harrowing (though no less interesting) activities.

Events

This section begins with rolling for random events. It seems that every character gets to roll for one event, though some events affect the entire party. These range from the interesting (like an auction where a magic book happens to be one of the items) to something more urgent like being suspected of Heresy by a Witch Hunter!

Endeavors

Endeavors

The next part involved partaking in Endeavors, which are essentially downtime activities that range from the mundane like practicing your trade to something more esoteric like consulting an expert in a certain matter.

Spend Money

Spending Money is also part of the downtime action. While specific uses of the money is done via Endeavors, the rest of your money is considered lost, spent, wasted, stolen or otherwise unavailable to your player characters.

While this sounds crazy for some adventurers, I rather like it as it simplifies bookkeeping (and if you’re not using the Banking Endeavor) it keeps your adventurers poor and hungry for adventure!
