Hey everyone, just letting you all know that we’ll be starting a new Let’s Study series on Curse The Darkness an RPG from Play Attention Games, Inc. and written by Matthew McFarland.

Curse The Darkness is a unique game set in a supernatural post-apocalyptic world where mankind is subject to the absolute control of a mysterious entity known only as Him. He took control of the world with the use of incredibly powerful creatures that crawl out of the shadows and respond to His will.

His agenda is simple: the eradication of Ideology. While it might seem strange, the idea itself is remarkably potent. Ideology forms the basis of separating mankind from one another. Patriotism, religion, philosophies, group-identity, these are all the means by which we define “Us” versus “Them” and by suppressing and destroying Ideology, He has insured that mankind is dragged kicking and screaming into his ideal utopia, where everyone is equal.

Given the fact that He seems unstoppable and even all-knowing, the player characters must then struggle to survive in His vision of the world. Through their adventures, they come to make a crucial choice, do they risk death and fight for their causes, or do they submit to the realities of His rule to survive?

Starting next week, we’ll be taking a look at Curse The Darkness, starting with the setting and then moving on to the themes and systems. We’ll try our hand at character creation and see what kind of stories we can tell with it.

Curse The Darkness is an interesting read so far, and as a fan of horror RPGs, I’m very happy to be able to get this chance to dig into this title.
