[L5R 4e: Hearts and Souls] NPC Profile: Kakita Hayate - Cocksure Duelist

With the start of the Hearts and Souls campaign, I figure the team could use a few more Crane personalities for their team to interact with. As such I’ll be putting up some of the custom characters that will be allied with the team here for my players and those looking for interesting characters that they can use in their games.

Biography:

Hayate is the finest duelist of his generation… at least, in his mind. It is a mindset that has put him in trouble more than once, but a combination of genuine skill and some uncanny luck has made Hayate only more certain of his destiny to become one of the greatest heroes of Rokugani history.

That said, Hayate is a genuinely likable sort once you get past his ego. Ever so certain of his role in life as a “hero” Hayate is courteous and devoted to his duties as a Yojimbo and Duelist of the Clan, something that has somewhat endeared him to his teachers in the Academy earning him a Kakita Blade.

Hayate’s true weakness comes to material goods. Despite coming from the wealthy Crane Clan, Hayate can’t help but be attracted to the lures of more valuables to be able to afford only the best for himself. It’s a vice, and he certainly acknowledges it as such, but it hasn’t gotten him in trouble yet.
