The Phoenix Clan are perhaps one of the most interesting of all the Clans in Rokugan due to the fact that they are perhaps the most Fantastic. Mainly comprised of Shugenja families, the Phoenix Clan are considered to be the magical powerhouse.
That’s not to say that the Clan is a one-trick pony, of course. If anything the Phoenix are a host of interesting families, most of which are at odds with each other most of the time, and yet all of them form a remarkably capable Clan.
One thing I will say about the Phoenix Clan is that they’re probably the best Clan for a soap opera. There’s a whole lot of drama going on between the families that it is entirely possible to run a game without involving villains or heroes from any of the other Clans and it will still work.

Personally, I think the Phoenix is the antipodes of the Scorpion.
Where the Phoenix’s greatest sin is hubris. The Scorpion’s is humility.
