Krogans
The warlike and brutish Krogan are a proud warrior race uplifted by the Salarians in a bid to fight against the Rachni. The Krogans won the war, but with their unchecked aggressions they turned their eye towards the other races for slake their thirst for conquest.
This resulted in the Turians deploying the Genophage, a biological attack that resulted in a severely limited birth rate. The Krogans could no longer replenish their numbers in a sufficient rate, and their rebellion was crushed.
Now the Krogans usually hire themselves out as mercenaries, seeking out conflict wherever they can to prove their strength. Their natural biological advantages make them terrifying combatants.

Quarians
The Quarians are a nomadic space-faring race of aliens. Reduced to a state of constant travel by a rebellion led by the robotic Geth, their former servants, the Quarians are often seen as dregs of society and thieves by most other races.
Despite their reputations, their skill with technology and being able to make do with severely limited resources make them a valuable addition to any endeavour related to technology.
However, their physiology has suffered much in the time they’ve spent in space, as their immune systems are very, very weak, and they need environmental suits in order to survive.

I’m pretty sure that the Quarian Racial Template seems like utter rubbish, but they’re an interesting race and I would certainly not mind playing one if only because of their culture and history. I think that their apparent weaknesses might be compensated once I move on to the profession templates.
