After some fiddling around with the L5R 4e corebook, I’ve come up with a reasonable character concept that I’m happy with. This post might get a little too system specific to those who are used to my more general articles, but humor me for this entry since it has been a while since I’ve actually had a chance to play.
Ryohei’s concept is fairly simple. His mother was one of the casualties of one of the Lion-Crane conflicts, and Ryohei was approached by the Kitsu Daimyo, who informed him that for some reason, his mother’s soul was one of those who did not seem to make it to eternal repose. Ryohei, disturbed by the idea that his mother would be doomed to roam the world as a ghost, or some other aberration, took on an oath to accompany a Kitsu Shugenja in their duties to set the dead to rest, in an effort to earn enough karma to allow his mother to pass on.
