To wrap up this quick series of posts regarding ideal Long-Term Campaigns are the answers from our other Exalted GM, Sheimaruen. A fan of anime and Japanese culture in general, Sheimaruen usually has a macabre sense of humor, and a strong sense of making a large setting with multiple moving factions.
- World of Darkness – Black Lagoon-ish: starting as mortals: transition to anything… like the hunter game: spanning from city wide supernatural conflicts, to going home to the sound of the neighbors on drugs, and the wails of that badly beaten housewife 3 doors down.
- L5R: sandboxy game – set before Scorpion Clan coup. With references to katanagatari, since everything past the 2nd Day of Thunder is FFnet. preferably players are friends from different clans before the clan war- gempukku (topaz championship) then coup happens, suddenly agendas vs. friendships… maybe even a relationship or two. Characters must weigh choices – bushido vs. needs of the empire vs. personal relationships and goals.
- Exalted – starting from the primordial war, all the way to current time or the Scarlet empress. Players will expect to reincarnate – start out as celestials: at least until the usurpation and return – in which case Abyssals and Infernals Open up. Transitioning will the the challenge but it’d be interesting to see how bonds will work out through the ages.
I have no doubts that all three games will involve a lot of inter-group politics and maneuvering, something of a hallmark now of Alvin’s style of play. That said caution looks like the order of the day as who knows who’s toes you might be stepping on by accident.

Again, the first hints at more maturity, but its last that interests me especially, with those bonds crossing the ages. Plenty to think about as usual!
