Mage: the Awakening planning week begins with one of the most important considerations in running a roleplaying game: Who am I running it for? Being a group activity that requires the inputs of active participants, a campaign relies on it’s players as much as it relies on the GM to create an enjoyable play experience.
That being said, let’s go and take a look at my upcoming Mage: the Awakening campaign’s players. Like in the Campaign Planning article for D&D, I’ll be rating them as well according to 3 critera:
- Roleplay Tolerance – How much “talking” and in character behavior a player can stand
- Story Tolerance – How much of the plot will a player be willing to lead his or her character through
- Mechanics Tolerance – How much number crunching can be expected of a character
